Winding walkways lead to a long, slim pool and the suites have white-washed walls, sloping roofs and open terraces. Settle in and soak up the average year-round temperature of 23C and views over La Gomera and the Atlantic Ocean. The apartments are on a self-catered room-only basis, but you can still treat yourself to breakfast and dining at the on-site Melvin Restaurant. Theres a beautiful al fresco terrace as well as a Spanish-cuisine menu designed by ten Michelin starred-chef Martn Berasategui, featuring a great range of creative and freshly made dishes. The suites here are spectacular and have stylish features including marble flooring. Each comes with a private terrace, many with views over the golf course or the sea. They also have state-of-the-art kitchens and dining areas, perfect if youre self-catering the nearest supermarket is just a 10-minute drive away in San Juan. Its also home to Charco De La Laja a picturesque natural swimming pool suitable for older children. Tried and testedWe love the kids club, the Kids’ Camp Abama, which is set in big outdoor tents. It costs extra, but children aged 4 to 14 can do things like sports and arts and crafts, and there are organised trips out to local attractions. Wed also recommend taking them to the hotels Melvin Restaurant for Spanish dishes served on a gorgeous al fresco terrace. The sleeping arrangements Youve got the option of one, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with proper beds and en-suite bathrooms in every room. Cots are available free of charge. Some apartments overlook the golf course, and some the sea, and they all have a terrace or balcony to enjoy the views from.
