With beautiful views, peace and tranquillity guaranteed, Europe’s lake resorts are quickly becoming one of the most popular holidays destinations in the world. From personal experience and feedback from our travelling community, we are going to go through our favourite collection for you to explore…
What a better place to start. Lake Como is located in North Italy within the Lombary region. It was very well known for its dramatic scenery, set against the foothills of the Alps. You might of recognised the very elegant resort through such blockbuster films like Ocean’s 12 and James Bonds Casino Royale. Whilst in Lake Como, you must visit the small town of Bellagio (often referred to ‘The Pearl Of Lake Como). Famous for its cobbled streets and picturesque beauty, it is also home to a range of beautiful Italian restaurants, fit for the whole family.
If you’re Instagram profile hasn’t already been popping with the picturesque beauty of Lake Como, only a short 78 miles to the east we are blessed Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. Well known for its crystal clear waters, Lake Garda has also been touted into being one of the most romantic destinations in the world, and we can see why. Lake Garda also possesses activities and attractions for all ages. Its terrain gives the lake a wide variety of attractions for adrenaline-junkies, from windsurfing to mountain climbing, however also is home to several well-fortified castles, Roman remains and sites of interests to World War II enthusiasts.
Lake Bled is located in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of Slovenia. The lake is Slovenia’s hottest tourist attraction, and we can most certainly see why. Sitting in the middle of the lake, is a small island home to a beautiful little 17th century church. Other than it’s outstanding beauty, Lake Bled is home to many natural wonders, such as many natural water slides and waterfalls which you can spend your days exploring and trekking through.
Not too far from Lake Annecy, is Lake Geneva. Lake Geneva is one of Europe’s largest lakes spanning across the borders of France and Switzerland, and overlooked by the Alps. The lake is surrounded by charming small towns, vineyards, magnificent scenery, mountain ranges and chateaux. As for lake activities, there is plenty of opportunities to see the lake in many different ways. There is just a short 124-mile bike route around the lake popular with cycle enthusiasts. It is also home to 116 public beaches, which are great spots for swimming between June-September time, where temperatures are highest in that region.
Hallstatter See or Lake Hallstatt is a lake in the Salzkammergut, Austria. It is named after a small market town in Austria called Hallstatt, most famously known for its salt mining since prehistoric times and the starting point of the world’s oldest and still functioning industrial pipeline. The nicest way to discover the lake will be to take a tour on the lake. During the summer months, local shipping companies offer two different routes around the late! However, if looking for a more active way of uncovering the nature beauty, you are able to rent bicycles, rowing and pedal boats on Lake Hallstatter. This allows you to have more freedom of exploring the surroundings.
