Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Flight

Venture by train to three of Britains most lively cities. Stunning landscapes will surround you as you are whisked through the peaceful countryside. Along the way, get to know the stirring history and captivating legends of this great land.

Day 2: Edinburgh, Scotland – Tour Begins

Your tour opens in Edinburgh, the “Athens of the North.” Tonight, meet your fellow travelers during a fun-filled Scottish evening complete with traditional entertainment.

Day 3: Edinburgh

Come to know this regal city on a locally guided tour that includes the Royal Mile, Old Town, Grassmarket, and the Scottish Parliament. See the Palace of Holyroodhouse* before touring the imposing Edinburgh Castle, home of the Scottish Crown Jewels. This afternoon, enjoy free time to independently explore the city browse the shops, meet the friendly locals or relax at afternoon tea.

Day 4: Edinburgh – St. Andrews – Pitlochry – Edinburgh

Travel to St. Andrews, the beautiful town in the Kingdom of Fife that gave the world the game of golf, to see the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and the famous Old Course. Next, stop at Pitlochry, a vibrant Victorian town. Discover its Old World appeal as you explore this popular resort town on your own. This afternoon, visit a Scottish whisky distillery and taste one of the worlds most well-known whiskies.

Day 5: Edinburgh – York, England

Depart Edinburgh for a scenic train ride through the Scottish Borders. Soak up rolling hills, emerald forests, picturesque villages and sweeping coastlines as you make your way south to York. Arrive in York, Englands iconic medieval city. Join a local expert on a stroll through the citys historic streets. Walk on the Shambles, a quaint, narrow street that appears today almost as it did in the Middle Ages. This evening, enjoy the best in English cuisine at a local restaurant.

Day 6: York – Castle Howard – Helmsley – York

Venture to Yorkshires breathtaking countryside. Visit Castle Howard**, a magnificent 18th-century estate set on more than 1,000 acres of land. Continue on to the quaint market town of Helmsley. Enjoy time to peruse its local shops and famed teahouses before heading back to York for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 7: York – London

Board your train; then sit back and relax en route to Englands sophisticated and bustling capital city of London. Be greeted by a local expert who leads you on a panoramic tour. See Trafalgar Square, St. Pauls Cathedral, the Tower of London, and Buckingham Palace, the London home to Britain’s royalty since 1837. At Westminster, see the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. Tonight enjoy dinner at a traditional English pub.

Day 8: London

Enjoy a full day to explore London on your own. Or, perhaps youll choose to join an optional excursion to Oxford and Blenheim Palace: tour the quaint city of Oxford and learn about its famous university; youll even see the college where Harry Potter was filmed! Continue on to Blenheim Palace, one of Englands most magnificent homes; enjoy a private tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site and learn about one of its most famous residents Sir Winston Churchill.

Day 9: London – Windsor – London

Travel outside of the city to glorious Windsor Castle. Originally built to guard the city of London, Windsor Castle has been the home of kings and queens for nine centuries and is the oldest royal residence still in use today. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and toast the end of a wonderful journey.

Day 10: London – Tour Ends

Your journey through Britain comes to a close today.
