ItineraryDay 1: Providence, Rhode Island – Tour BeginsJoin us on a journey highlighting the fall foliage, natural beauty, traditional charm and friendly people of New England. Your tour begins in historic Providence, the capital of Rhode Island. Day 2: Providence – Newport – ProvidenceThis morning we depart for Newport, the Yachting Capital of the East. Return to America’s Gilded Age as you make your way along breathtaking Ocean Drive en route to Bellevue Avenue, lined with 11 extraordinary mansions. Built in the 1800s as summer “cottages,” 7 of the 11 mansions have been designated National Historic Landmarks. Tour the Marble House, the gorgeous summer home of Mr. and Mrs. William Vanderbilt. As you explore this architectural marvel, you will gain an understanding of why Newport became such a grand destination. Day 3: Providence – Manchester Village, VermontDiscover Providence, Americas Renaissance City, on your morning sightseeing tour. Get to know the long history of one of the oldest cities in New England. See prestigious Brown University and learn about the citys vibrant art, cultural, and culinary scenes. Then, set out for Vermont, the Green Mountain State. Traditional white steeple churches, quaint villages and tree-covered mountainsides dot the charming landscape of your journey. Arrive at your tranquil mountain resort where you will spend two nights surrounded by nature. Tonight, savor a private dinner while overlooking the beautiful mountain ranges. Day 4: Manchester VillageMake your way to Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, the former home of Robert Todd Lincoln, the son of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, and the former Chairman of the Pullman Company. Continue on to charming coastal Portsmouth, New Hampshire, one of Americas oldest cities and a thriving port city during the revolutionary period. Day 7: PortsmouthEnjoy a morning at leisure to independently explore the many specialty shops and restaurants of this traditional New England waterfront community. Then you choose how you discover Portsmouth! Get a glimpse into the lives of early American settlers at Strawbery Banke; see what life was like in the 17th and 18th century as you stroll through this historic neighborhood, now an outdoor museum where history is brought to life.
