Day 1: Providence, Rhode Island – Tour Begins

Join us on a journey highlighting the fall foliage, natural beauty, traditional charm and friendly people of New England. Your tour begins in historic Providence, the capital of Rhode Island.

Day 2: Providence – Newport – Providence

This morning we depart for Newport, the Yachting Capital of the East. Return to America’s Gilded Age as you make your way along breathtaking Ocean Drive en route to Bellevue Avenue, lined with 11 extraordinary mansions. Built in the 1800s as summer “cottages,” 7 of the 11 mansions have been designated National Historic Landmarks. Tour the Marble House, the gorgeous summer home of Mr. and Mrs. William Vanderbilt. As you explore this architectural marvel, you will gain an understanding of why Newport became such a grand destination. Then, take your seat at a Broadway-style show at a local summer theater company before returning to Providence.

Day 3: Providence – Manchester Village, Vermont

Discover Providence, Americas Renaissance City, on your morning sightseeing tour. Get to know the long history of one of the oldest cities in New England. See prestigious Brown University and learn about the citys vibrant art, cultural, and culinary scenes. Then, set out for Vermont, the Green Mountain State. Traditional white steeple churches, quaint villages and tree-covered mountainsides dot the charming landscape of your journey. Make a stop at one of Vermonts regional theaters and take your seat at a performance by a talented local company. Later, arrive at your tranquil mountain resort where you will spend two nights surrounded by nature. Tonight, savor a private dinner while overlooking the beautiful mountain ranges.

Day 4: Manchester Village

Make your way to Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, the former home of Robert Todd Lincoln, the son of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, and the former Chairman of the Pullman Company. Spend time exploring this impressive home, the magnificent gardens, and the estates vintage Pullman car. Then, return to town for some free time to get to know this historic village and take advantage of the towns popular outlet stores and boutique shops.

Day 5: Manchester Village – Woodstock – Windsor – Bethel, Maine

Travel through the beautiful Green Mountains to western Vermonts Billings Farm and Museum. At this working dairy farm, learn about the variety of livestock they keep, the states farming culture, and 19th century farming methods. Stop in Woodstock, named the quintessential New England village, full of true Americana and a lovely village green lined with historic homes. Next we make our way to the village of Windsor. Here youll choose your activity. You may choose to learn about craft beer brewing at the popular Harpoon Brewery. Or, maybe youd rather discover the secrets of distilling vodka, gin and whiskey at Silo Distillery. Or, perhaps youd prefer to take a stroll through the Path of Life Garden to see 18 works of art set in nature. Continue on to the majestic White Mountains of Maine and arrive in the quaint village of Bethel. Settle in for your overnight stay before dinner this evening.

Day 6: Bethel – Kennebunkport – Portsmouth, New Hampshire

The first stop on todays journey is the seaside resort town of Kennebunkport. Travel along its spectacular Ocean Drive. See Walkers Point, former President George H. W. Bushs summer home, situated on a rocky promontory. Then, enjoy some time to explore the quaint town center on your own. Continue on to charming coastal Portsmouth, New Hampshire, one of Americas oldest cities and a thriving port city during the revolutionary period.

Day 7: Portsmouth

Today you choose how you discover Portsmouth! Get a glimpse into the lives of early American settlers at Strawbery Banke; see what life was like in the 17th and 18th century as you stroll through this historic neighborhood, now an outdoor museum where history is brought to life. Or, perhaps you would prefer to take to the water for a narrated harbor cruise;* hear stories of this important port city from settlement in 1623 through today while taking in stunning coastal views. Spend some time independently exploring the many specialty shops and restaurants of this traditional New England waterfront community. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a true taste of New England during your farewell dinner featuring the local delicacy lobster!
