ItineraryDay 1 Venice – Bassano del GrappaOur tour will begin in the worlds most famous floating city: Venice. After meeting the group, well board the mini-coach and set a course for our first stop Maser, where well get to know the group over a wine tasting session at the historic Villa di Maser winery. Then: onwards to Bassano del Grappa, a small town thats famous for its 13th century wooden covered bridge. After getting acquainted with the town on a walking tour, well pay a visit to the Poli Grappa Museum where well learn about the history of the local tipple (and enjoy a tasting, of course). Tonight, a welcome dinner awaits us at our hotel. Day 2 Bassano del Grappa – Rovereto – Bassano del GrappaToday well delve into Roveretos fascinating history on a walking tour ticking off the likes of the imposing Rovereto Castle (the home of the Italian War Museum), the Bell of the Fallen (which commemorates those who fell in the Great War in Trentino), and a local distillery. After sampling some of the areas traditional liquors, well return to the hotel for an evening of leisure time. Day 3 Bassano del Grappa – Belluno – Lake BledWell make one more stop in Belluno before we bid farewell to Italy and cross over into Slovenia. Our destination? The enchanting Lake Bled area, where youll be free to spend some time relaxing before tomorrows trip to the iconic lake. Day 4 Lake BledFirst on todays agenda: well venture to the fascinating apiary in Bled, where well be treated to a guided tour complete with candle-making session. Then: well turn our attention to historic Bled Castle. A local guide will let us in on a few of the castles secrets before we settle down to an included lunch in the castle restaurant. This afternoon well take to the water for a traditional pletna boat ride to the small island in the centre of Lake Bled where well visit the baroque Church of the Assumption. Day 5 Lake Bled – LjubljanaThis morning well bid a fond farewell to Lake Bled and hit the road to Slovenias capital: Ljubljana, where well learn more about the citys major sights (including the famous castle) on a walking tour with a local guide. Then: well have the chance to hone our culinary skills with an included cookery class and dinner. Day 6 Ljubljana – Kamnik – Predjama Castle – MotovunNext stop: Kamnik, where well take a scenic cable car ride to Velika Planina a beautiful mountain plateau with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. After admiring the unique architecture of the cottages in the herdsmens settlement, well move on to our second stop of the day: Predjama Castle, the largest cave castle in the world. Tonight, well enjoy dinner together at our hotel in Motovun. Day 7 Motovun – Vrsar – MotovunToday well visit the pretty fishing town of Vrsar, which is filled with charming winding streets and old stone houses (not to mention a picturesque seafront promenade). Then: its back to Motovun we go! At the Katel cultural and educational centre, well learn all about the villages history and join a traditional pasta workshop. After devouring our culinary creations, we’ll return to the hotel for an afternoon of free time. Day 8 Motovun – Rastoke – Plitvice LakesTodays first stop will be a mill in the charming village of Rastoke which is known for its many beautiful waterfalls. After that, well move on to one of Croatias most astounding natural sites: the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Plitvice Lakes National Park. Here, we’ll explore the walking trails that hug the lakes and watch as the water transforms from emerald green to azure blue. Tonight well look back on our adventure over a farewell dinner. Day 9 Plitvice Lakes – Smiljan – SplitToday well continue north to the town of Smiljan the birthplace of famous inventor Nikola Tesla before moving on to a local agritourism hotspot for a traditional lunch. Later, well round off our journey in Split. |
