Visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, one of the worlds oldest and best preserved buffalo jumps and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ride aboard a Jammer (open-air touring car) during your visit to Glacier National Park. Journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway. Stop at Columbia Icefield and choose a ride across this mass of glacier ice or take a walk on the Glacier Skywalk. A 3-night stay at the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs hotel lets you explore Bow Falls and the Hoodoos (the “Land of the Sleeping Giants”).

Itinerary

Day 1: Calgary, Alberta, Canada – Tour Begins

Get ready for an adventure that brings together the beautiful expanse of the prairies, the soaring majesty of the Canadian Rockies and the brilliance of Montanas Glacier National Park. Your tour opens in the province of Alberta.

Day 2: Calgary Stampede

This morning its off to the Calgary Stampede which has been entertaining people since 1912. You will travel to the Stampede grounds where you can visit the Midway, an authentic Native American village, various exhibits, and enjoy entertainment. The rodeo is the heart of the Calgary Stampede and your seat is reserved this afternoon to observe this festive show and cheer for one of your local favorites. This evening offers the opportunity of reserved seating for a great view of the various Stampede performances including the Chuckwagon races* and musical entertainment.

Day 3: Calgary – Columbia Falls, Montana, United States

This morning, journey south to the prairie lands while enjoying distant views of the spectacular Rockies. Visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, one of the worlds oldest and best-preserved buffalo jumps, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Head-Smashed-In, in the foothills of the Rockies, has been used continuously by native people of the North American plains for over 5,500 years. A Blackfoot guide brings to life the culture of the Plains people, the Buffalo Hunt, and the many secrets uncovered in archaeological digs. Continue traveling south to Montana. En route, pass through quaint villages and travel along roads sometimes traversed by grizzly bears, black bears, mountain goats, cougars, wolves, moose and elk.

Day 4: Columbia Falls – Glacier National Park – Columbia Falls

Today, spend the day experiencing Glacier National Park. A naturalist’s paradise, Glacier preserves over 1 million acres of forests, Alpine meadows and lakes, and is home to over 70 species of mammals and 270 species of birds. Board one of its famous Jammer cars built in the 1930s and drive along one of the most breathtaking roads in North America. Going to the Sun Road** stretches across the Continental Divide and offers incredible views of the valley and Glacier National Park.

Day 5: Columbia Falls – Banff, Alberta, Canada

Relax during your journey to Banff and soak in a backdrop of wonderful wildlife and the majestic Canadian Rockies. Arrive at the grand Fairmont Banff Springs, known as the Castle in the Rockies, for a luxurious 3-night stay. Day 6: Banff

Start your day with breathtaking views of Banffs Sulphur Mountain. Take a gondola ride to the summit where you will enjoy breakfast as you overlook the town and the valley. Next, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Banff area including stops at the lovely Bow Falls and the fascinating Hoodoos, also known as the Land of Sleeping Giants. Later, visit a local ammolite specialist and learn about this rare gemstone that is found only in Alberta. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Perhaps you will choose to browse through the shops and museums or just take in the natural beauty of the area.

Day 7: Icefields Parkway – Choice of Glacier Experience or Glacier Skywalk

A wonderful day of sightseeing awaits as we set out along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway and behold lofty waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped mountain ranges. Stop at the Columbia Icefield and choose a fun ride*** across this mass of glacial ice which is over 1,000 feet thick the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle; or, take a walk on the Glacier Skywalk to experience the breathtaking views of the Sunwapta Valley and witness the dramatic landscape from the glass-floored platform. This afternoon, stop at stunning Peyto Lake, a turquoise glacier-fed lake that evokes pure serenity. Be on the lookout for bears and stately elk on your return to Banff. Join your fellow travelers this evening at a farewell dinner where you will toast the end of a wonderful trip.

Day 8: Banff – Tour Ends
