Day 1: Calgary, Alberta – Tour Begins

Your tour opens in the province of Alberta – get ready for an adventure that brings together the beautiful expanse of the prairie and the soaring majesty of the Canadian Rockies.

Day 2: Calgary Stampede

This morning, its off to the Calgary Stampede which has been entertaining people since 1912. You will travel to the Stampede grounds where you can visit the Midway, an authentic Indian Village, various exhibits and entertainment. This evening you will have the opportunity to have reserved seating for a great view of the various Stampede performances including the Chuckwagon races* and musical entertainment.

Day 3: Calgary – Banff

Enjoy your morning at leisure before departing for Banff. For the next three nights, soak in your location amid the backdrop of wonderful wildlife and the majestic Canadian Rockies. This evening its Diners Choice…youll choose the perfect spot from one of Banff’s great restaurants.

Day 4: Banff

Set off for a scenic drive through Banff featuring the powerful Bow Falls and Hoodoos known as the Land of the Sleeping Giants. Next, enjoy a visit to a local ammonite specialist to learn about this rare gemstone found only in Alberta. During an afternoon at leisure, perhaps you will take a stroll through Banffs delightful downtown.

Day 5: Banff – Lake Louise – Banff

Embark on a journey to spectacular Lake Louise. En route, view the spectacular Moraine Lake and the awe-inspiring Valley of the Ten Peaks. The jagged Ten Peaks are distinctively saw-toothed, standing out amidst stunning Alpine scenery. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at the Ski Louise Lodge. Then, board the gondola and ascend the mountain in fourteen minutes, to a height of 6,850 feet above sea level. Marvel at the spectacular panoramic views of mountain ranges while keeping an eye out for grizzly bears who call this mountain home. At the upper gondola terminal, take in one of Banff National Parks greatest views, and then visit the Interpretive Centre to learn about the bears in this area, their habitat and history. Next, visit the shores of the famous turquoise blue lake and the incomparable Chateau Lake Louise. You may choose to hike along the lakeshore or simply relax in the majesty of your surroundings.

Day 6: Icefields Parkway – Glacier Experience or Glacier Skywalk – Jasper

Set off for a wonderful day of sightseeing en route to Jasper. Youll journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway. Waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped peaks paint the breathtaking canvas so have your camera handy! Reflect on this inspiring landscape at Peyto Lake, a turquoise glacier-fed treasure. At the Columbia Icefield, set out on a fun ride** across a mass of glacial ice over 1,000 feet thick the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle. Next, take a stroll on the Glacier Skywalk. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Sunwapta Valley and see the dramatic landscape from the glass-floored platform. As you continue down the parkway, be on the lookout for bears, furry marmots and stately elk. Enjoy a stop at the Athabasca Falls and marvel at its sheer beauty and power. Arrive in Jasper, nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.

Day 7: Jasper – VIA Rail

This morning we travel to Maligne Lake and enjoy breakfast* against the backdrop of the picture-perfect sparkling waters of the lake. While at Maligne Lake, the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies, you may choose to embark on an optional cruise highlighting the beauty of Spirit Island. Next, enjoy the dramatic Maligne Canyon, one of the areas most spectacular landmarks. Later, board VIA Rails The Canadian to continue your journey through the majestic Canadian Rockies. Relive train travel in the days of old as you are rocked to sleep tonight in your private accommodations. The train whisks you past the peaks of the Monashee Mountains and the stunning sight of Pyramid Falls cascading down Mt. Cheadle. Relax in the Dome car and experience stunning 360-degree views of the glistening glaciers of the Albreda Icefields.

Day 8: VIA Rail – Vancouver

Enjoy a lovely hot breakfast in the dining car before arriving in the vibrant city of Vancouver. A city tour of Vancouver begins this morning at beautiful Stanley Park, Canadas renowned urban rainforest, and continues to Chinatown, the waterfront, and Gastown, a turn-of-the-century center comprised of pubs, art galleries, boutiques, and the world-famous steam-powered clock, perhaps the most photographed subject in all of Vancouver. Stroll picturesque Granville Island and its fascinating markets. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner overlooking the city skyline.
