Itinerary

Day 1: Washington, D.C. – Tour Begins

Explore Americas history and scenic landscapes on this tour that showcases the grand hotels of the eastern United States. Your tour opens in Americas capital city, Washington, D.C. Your accommodations for the evening are at the Omni Shoreham. This hotel has seen many celebrities and dignitaries over its more than 80 years including Judy Garland, the Beatles, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Tonight, gather with your fellow travelers and toast to the beginning of the amazing adventure ahead during your welcome cocktail reception.

Day 2: Washington D.C. – Hot Springs, Virginia

This morning, a guided tour of Washington, D.C. affords wonderful views of the Mall, the White House, monuments and museums. Visit the moving World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Your tour ends with a photo stop at the U.S. Capitol building. Leave the city behind and make your way to Hot Springs, Virginia. Arrive at the 250-year-old Omni Homestead Resort and settle in for a luxurious 2-night stay. This evening we gather for a cocktail followed by dinner in one of the resorts restaurants.

Day 3: Hot Springs

Begin your day with a tour of your resort which opened ten years before the Declaration of Independence was signed and has hosted presidents, royalty and celebrities over the years. Then, choose your activity! Perhaps you will choose to soak up the warm, rich mineral waters in the springs near your resort that Thomas Jefferson enjoyed centuries ago. Or, perhaps youd prefer a more adventurous day exploring the local trails by mountain bike at your own pace. The remainder of the day is at leisure. You may decide to enjoy some of the amenities at your resort which include golf, spa treatments, and falconry; or, simply relax and take in the beauty of your surroundings.

Day 4: Hot Springs – Fallingwater – Bedford Springs, Pennsylvania

Today we travel to Pennsylvania. En route, well stop at Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wrights famous creation that is now a National Historic Landmark. This architectural marvel seemingly floats over a 30-foot waterfall. Continue on to the 200-year-old Omni Bedford Springs Resort. This hotel boasts eight mineral springs on its property that have been a popular retreat for the rich and famous since its opening. This evening, step back in time during dinner at a charming historic tavern dating back to the 1700s.

Day 5: Bedford Springs – Bethlehem – Hudson River Valley, New York

Todays journey brings us to New Yorks beautiful Hudson River Valley. Pause along the way in the charming historic city center of Bethlehem, named on Christmas Eve by the Moravians who settled here in 1741. Spend some free time discovering its rich history, browsing the shops, or relaxing in a local restaurant. Continue on to the breathtaking Hudson River Valley where youll settle into your elegant hotel that rests along the rivers edge.

Day 6: Hudson River Valley

Your day begins at the iconic U.S. Military Academy at West Point.* Come to know the long history of this institution that dates back to the Revolutionary War while on a tour with an expert guide. Next we are off to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, the first of its kind in the country. Discover the story of this fascinating man and his dynamic wife who won the heart of the American people. Continue exploring this important presidents history with a local guide at Springwood estate, the birthplace and lifelong home of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Later, get to know the flavors of the region when you dine at a local restaurant.

Day 7: Hudson River Valley – Saratoga Springs – Manchester, Vermont

Set out for Vermont. En route, stop in Saratoga Springs (NY), home to the famed racetrack, for time to explore its tree-lined streets, charming shops and restaurants. Continue to the Green Mountain State as traditional white steeple churches, quaint villages and unspoiled tree-covered mountainsides dot the landscape. Visit Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, the former home of Robert Todd Lincoln, the only adult child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, and former Chairman of the Pullman Company. Explore the impressive home, magnificent gardens, and vintage Pullman car. Later, arrive at the tranquil Equinox Resort & Spa in the bucolic town of Manchester.

Day 8: Manchester – Woodstock – Windsor – Manchester

Travel through the beautiful Green Mountains to Billings Farm and Museum, a working dairy farm, and learn about the variety of livestock they keep, the states farming culture, and the 19th century farming methods. Explore Woodstock, named the quintessential New England village and full of true Americana, including a covered bridge and a lovely village green lined with historic homes. Then, we make our way to the village of Windsor. Here youll choose your activity. You may learn about craft beer brewing at the popular Harpoon Brewery. Or, you can discover the secrets of distilling vodka, gin and whiskey at Silo Distillery. Return to Manchester with time to relax before enjoying dinner at your resort.

Day 9: Manchester – Boston, Massachusetts

This morning cross the border into historic Massachusetts, arriving in the lively city of Boston. A local guide will show you this historic city on a sightseeing tour featuring the Old South Meeting House, Public Gardens, Old North Church and Beacon Hill. Stop at the famed Faneuil Hall Marketplace, bustling with various street performers and colorful kiosks of local handiwork. Tonight, gather for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant steeped in tradition.

Day 10: Boston – Tour Ends
