Chile Top to Toe
Wendy Wu are known as for their expertise in Asia, but their tours in South America are fast proving to be trendsetters in the travel industry. Among their latest South American range, their 16 day tour of Chile is by far the most popular.
The journey begins in the city of Santiago in the Andes. Here, youll examine colonial structures sitting alongside the Inca-inspired, more traditional buildings, before moving onto the iconic seaside resort of Vina del Mar in Val Paraiso. Once seen, youll never forget these colourful houses built onto the hillside that stretches down to the sea. This is where the poet Pablo Neruda made his home and its easy to see why. There was plenty to inspire him nearby!
Following a few days on the beach, itll be time for adventure and a journey into the driest desert on Earth; The Atacama. The dramatic landscape here is littered with salt flats, volcanoes, geysers and hot springs, all of which youll get a chance to study in detail as you move through the various regions. A particular highlight of this leg of the tour will be seeing the pink splashes of colour as hundreds of flamingos gather to drink in the lagoons.
Youll then pass through the Tocopuri Mountains and Puerto Varas; the city of roses, which lies in the shadow of two huge volcanoes, before venturing further into the Paine National Park. Here, youll feast your eyes on guanacos grazing beside lakes and waterfalls, as well as the infamous jagged peaks of the park, before heading back to Santiago. View the full itinerary
