The main event in this area is the Rip Curl Pro Tournament help every Easter (March or April) which attracts the best surfers from across the globe. Next up is the main event the 12 Apostles – the most picturesque part of the journey and probably the most recognisable section of your trip. Formed over the years by erosion crashing against the shoreline, a number of limestone pillars that were once connected to the mainland cliffs. Years of wind and waves have created a number of caves and arches for you to explore – this is what has made the cliff sides so unique in the way the apostles have been formed into 150 foot tall columns.
There are a number of ways to get the best views of the Apostles with Low Cost Deals working closely with some very reputable tour companies providing the best options and experiences for seeing the Apostles. Enjoy the best possible views on a spectacular helicopter flight – with daily flights from the heliport behind the 12 Apostles Visitor Centre we can organise this incredible experience for you just contact us today. As well as the Apostles you will get great vies of the Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, the Grotto, the Bay of Islands and the entirety of the Shipwreck Coast along the way to Cape Otway, view the oldest lighthouse in the whole of Australia.
The more popular method of seeing the Apostles is a moderate walk along the boardwalk lasting around 7km. Expect to see stunning coastal views and keep an eye out for a number of different seabird in which inhabit this area as well as kangaroos giving you the reminder that you’re in the land down under. If you are keen for a longer walk you can partake in the 12 Apostles Lodge walk which should last around four days in which one of our team can provide you with more information on accommodation and walking routes and guides.
There is also a number of shipwrecks to look out for, this is down to Bass Strait being a major shipping route bringing supplies to Victoria – and attempting to tackle the ‘eye of the needle’ gap between Cape Otway and King Island a very dangerous stretch of water after a long voyage. You can view the historic display at the local Visitor Centre in Port Campbell to get some history before you go to view the shipwrecks firsthand with more than 200 to view all clearly signposted for your comfort.
