Mark Warner Lakitira Beach 23rd 30th May 2012
After a fantastic flight with Jet2 (The kids actually behaved better than the wife who is a terrible flier!) we met our Mark Warner representative with little fuss & was directed to thecoach with our luggage, the last time we seen our luggage until we arrived in our room.
A very short & pleasant drive into Lakitira Beach we were greeted on the steps by some of the Mark Warner staff. We then checked in again wih minimal fuss & were given directions to our room for the week.
Our home from home
We stayed in a family suite which consisted of a walk-in wardrobe, separate WC, two main rooms, a main bathroom & attached wet room. We also had two balconies with lovely gardens to look out onto, two fridges & sliding doors to separate our room from the childrens.
Main Pool, Childrens pool, & grounds
We pitched up in the best position just near to the Childrens pool & also not far from the Childrens outdoor play area (Which only need swings to be perfect). We had the Children Poppy 5, Issy 3 & Zach 11 months booked into the Kids Clubs for the afternoon sessions so our mornings were spent playing in the pool & also on the grassed areas. The pools are slightly cold but after a few minutes you acclimatise (I suggest jumping in).
Kids Clubs
We have never placed our children in kids clubs & left them unsupervised so we were a little anxious & didnt actually leave Zach until day three into the holiday (he was ruining the sun bathing). The great thing aboutMark Warnerkids clubs is that you can see your children playing on the beach, by the pool & in the resort grounds so they are never truly far away.
The girls loved the kids club so much they were on countdown most days & they also made friends whom they could play with before & after kids club had finished! During the club the girls went sailing, canoeing, kite sailing, wave jumping played numerous games & much more.
Zach was the only baby in the baby club & was often found on the beach playing surrounded by the lovely Mark Warner team!
A small menu is available for the children so they can have a quick bite before the DVD club starts at 7.30 which our grisly went too on a few occasions although we never let them sleep there the option to do so is available until 11pm.
Restaurants & Snack Bar
A great selection of food is available every morning for breakfast & the waiting on staff are extremely friendly & helpful, The kids visited the buffet numerous times for breakfast & often would sneak a biscuit out with them to eat by the pool!
As with breakfast, dinner is also served in the terrace restaurant & the food is fantastic with different themes every night so you always have something new to try. You can also have tea in the trattoria & book in for an evening a la carte menu (with or without the kids). Overall the food was fantastic & I could feel my clothes getting tighter as the days went bye!
What to do
Tennis, Sailing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Aerobics, Mountain Biking, spa treatments . The list goes on. During our stay I tried he mountain biking which was great & wasnt that strenuous, kayaking with Issy which was fun & I also had a brilliant massage on the penultimate day. The girls covered most of the activities during the Kids club, something they would never normally do with us, whilst Mum took it easy avoided all aerobics & just visited the Spa for three treatments all of which were amazing.
The great thing about the activities is that you arent forced to do anything & I you so wish you can simply sunbathe & swin for a week! I would recommend attending the welcome meeting as you get to see all the Mark Warner staff & find ou some useful information.
Beach
Lakitira Beach resort is set in he most fantastic ground with beautiful flower beds & grassy areas. The beach couldnt be closer & is just the right size for adults & children alike to enjoy. The beach is also the base for all water sports & you can hire out kayaks & boats.
Out & about
What with having three children & being based in a fantastic hotel we only ventured out once & after a very informative & friendly taxi journey we arrived at our restaurant (recommended by the mark warner staff). We ate at Avlis restaurant, http://www.avlirestaurant.gr/. The restaurant is set in an open courtyard with great food & brilliant staff.
To summarize we had a fantastic stay at Mark Warner Lakitira Beach & would recommend a stay to anyone with or without children. Your every need is catered for & you can do as little o as much as you like.
