Forget Chelsea! For a truly memorable flower show experience, why not let Great Rail Journeys take you southwestwards to the Cornwall Flower Show at the Boconnoc Estate next Spring. Ride in a luxurious train carriage and arrive in style. You’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the incredible sub tropical flower displays, experience heady and vibrant displays of colour as you walk through fields of daffodils and magnolias, as well as take in all the talks and exhibits provided by the visiting plant experts.
Have a burning question about where you’re going wrong with your petunias, but never managed to get on Gardener’s Question Time? Ask the experts at Boconnoc. They’ll be able to shed some light on your green fingered abilities.
For a truly extraordinary garden experience, step inside a series of purpose built bio-domes built in an old china clay pit clinging to the side of the Cornish countryside. You can experience the Amazon rainforest and Mediterranean landscapes from the wrong side of the Atlantic. Orchids and exotic blooms abound all year round. A trip to the Eden Project is included with most of Great Rail Journeys’ Cornish tours.
These spectacular gardens were vibrant in the late Victorian era and leading up to World War I, but were neglected thereafter. Painstakingly restored to their former beauty nearly 20 years ago, stepping into these gardens is like stepping back in time. Discover what it would have felt like to be a garden visiter over 100 years ago. It’s a magical experience.
The gardens of St Michael’s Mount
An extraordinary sight just off the shoreline of Mounts Bay is the romantic and almost ethereal rock known as St Michael’s Mount. The gardens here are reached by a stone causeway from the beach, when the tide is low, and by boat when the causeway is covered. They are maintained by the National Trust and include various hardy subtropical varieties, that look spectacular, but must also be strong enough to survive the robust sea breezes.
Whilst you’re this end of West Cornwall, your trusted tour operator will also take you on trips to explore nearby Penzance, St Ives and the UK’s most southwesterly point; Lands End. Youll have a chance to go shopping, visit the beach and witness some spectacularly rugged scenery.
For a truly memorable and all inclusive Cornish horticultural experience, that doesn’t require you to get involved in any of the stress of air travel, why not consider a short break in the sunny South West. For any questions about the luxury hotels in which you’ll be staying, or the steam train ride that you’ll take with the Bodmin and Wenford railway, please give our knowledgable team, here at Low Cost Dealsa call.
